The Romanovs

In 1968 the remains of Emperor Nicholas II (1868-1918), Empress Alexandra Fyodorovna, their children and companions shot in Yekaterinburg were buried in the Sts Peter and Paul Cathedral. The execution had taken place in the basement of the Ipatyev House on the night of July 17. Killed on that night were Emperor Nicholas II, his spouse, their daughters Olga (b. 1895), Tatiana (b. 1897), Maria (b. 1899) and Anastasia (b. 1901), their son Alexey (b. 1904), doctor Yevgeny Botkin who consultedd the Crown Prince suffering from hemophilia, their servant Alexey (Alosius) Trupp. the Empress’s maid Anna Demidova and cook Ivan Kharitonov. The last person to be buried in the cathedral was Empress Maria Fyodorovna, spouse of Alexander III and mother of Nicholas II, whose remains were transferred from Denmark to be put to rest here in 2005.
